BARRY SETZER
MILL SUPERVISOR
Barry Scott Setzer brings more than three decades of manufacturing experience to TITANS of CNC and represents four generations of machining excellence. Born in Chicago and now living in Lewisville, Barry started in the trade in 1994 at his grandfather’s machine shop, cleaning chips out of lathes, helping with assembly, and learning the fundamentals from the ground up. What began as summer work turned into a lifelong pursuit of mastery.
Over the course of 32 years in manufacturing, Barry has built a rare range of experience across job shops, aerospace, automotive, defense, oilfield, sheet metal fabrication, and design engineering. He has spent his career pushing himself to become the best at every level of the industry, working as a machinist, fabricator, maintenance supervisor, programmer, shop supervisor, team lead, manager, and engineer.
Barry has run an extraordinary range of equipment throughout his career, including mills from Haas, Fanuc, Matsuura, Heller, Ibarmia, YCM, Mazak, Okuma, EMCO, Hurco, and Cincinnati, along with turret punches, press brakes, automated bending cells, Fanuc robots, Mitsubishi lasers, waterjets, and Wire EDM. His passion is medium- to large-frame machining centers, big parts, high-horsepower spindles, aggressive feed rates, and the kind of machining that produces serious results and a serious pile of chips.
Some of Barry’s most demanding projects include machining a large 17-4 forging for an aircraft carrier magnetic launch and recovery system with extremely tight GD&T requirements and hole tolerances of +0.0001 / -0.0000. He also played a key role in producing the Gas Monkey Garage SEMA C10 grille and the 1970 Chevelle grille, both under intense timelines with flawless finish requirements. Another standout project was creating a presidential bust that was ultimately presented to the President of the United States.
Machining is the one trade where a man can emulate his creator. We start with an idea, and then build it pixel by pixel out of nothing. Then bring that idea to life in the real world, chip by chip.
At TITANS of CNC, Barry thrives on the opportunity to teach at every level. Whether he is helping a machinist solve a feeds-and-speeds challenge in a garage shop or creating content that reaches engineers and machinists around the world, he enjoys making a real impact. For Barry, one of the most rewarding parts of the job is helping others grow in CAD, CAM, machining, and design for manufacturing. He also happens to enjoy brutal tool tests and the mass removal of material.
Barry’s technical credentials include multiple SOLIDWORKS certifications, including Professional, Advanced Surfacing Specialist, Advanced Sheet Metal Specialist, Advanced Weldment Specialist, Advanced Drawing Tools Specialist, and Sustainable Design Associate, along with Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Throughout his career, Barry has taken pride in doing what others say cannot be done. His journey reflects a relentless drive to solve difficult problems, pursue excellence, and help others level up in the trade. He lives by a simple belief: every person has talent, and great leadership comes from helping people discover where they can truly excel.
